Germany’s K+S, the controller of Sal Lobos, will invest US$5 million in Chile to install an American Business Center (ABC) from which it will control some of the group’s operations in the region.

The project, which received support from InvestChile, will provide financial and accounting services to the holding’s companies in the United States and Canada.

The company will be seeking to hire 40 professionals, with proficiency in English and French, for the center in the third quarter of this year.

According to Jens-Peter Kählert, vice-president of finance & administration at K+S Chile, the company evaluated different locations around the world for the center, including the United States, Canada and Costa Rica as well as Chile.

The executive also indicated that the company is evaluating the transfer of other functions, in addition to finance and accounting, which would imply a significant growth of the ABC’s personnel in the coming years.
