Chile becomes largest concession market for Spanish company Sacyr

Written by InvestChile | March,13,2026

The Chilean division wrapped up 2025 with revenues of 423 million Euros, making it the company’s leading operation, followed by Colombia, Spain, Uruguay and Mexico.

It has been almost 30 years since Sacyr landed in Chile. In 1996, the company took its first step by winning the concession for the Santiago-Los Vilos highway. Since then, the Spanish enterprise has not only managed to establish itself in the country, but also launched an expansion that has made it the firm with the most concessions in Chile.

Sacyr currently has a portfolio of 20 active concessions for projects ranging from hospitals to highways, investing more than US$ 6.5 billion in local industry.

Chile also took a leading role in the firm’s financial results. At year-end 2025, the country became the highest earning market within its concessions business.

According to the company’s financial statements, the area reported revenues of 1.891 billion Euros last year, an 8% increase over 2024. Broken down by country, Chile leads, with 423 million Euros in revenue, followed by Colombia, with 303 million Euros, Spain, with 189 million, Uruguay, with 127 million and Mexico, with 72 million Euros.

Sacyr underlined that "the operating performance of our assets in Chile and the confidence of public institutions in our technical capacity have made the country a key market in the region and in our growth plan."

A strategic country

Of the five projects awarded to the company in 2025, three are in Chile: the Pie de Monte highway, the Coquimbo desalination plant and the Antofagasta reuse plant. For Sacyr, this scenario augurs a favorable outlook for the coming years.

Chile is expected to maintain its leading role within the company’s global portfolio, because "it is a country that combines infrastructure development opportunities with governance that remains attractive for investment."

Indeed, the company has identified Chile as one of six priority markets in its 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, along with the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Among the future projects Sacyr is interested in are the Río Bueno-Puerto Montt highway, Route 57, the Caldera-Antofagasta highway, water-related initiatives and the Port of San Antonio.

"Chile is renowned for its track record in public-private partnerships, its regulatory stability and the technical quality of its projects. The country is also facing challenges in mobility, water infrastructure, ports and regional connectivity. We see opportunities there," the company noted.
