With an investment of US$40 million, the Spanish multinational reinforces its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and women’s employment in Chile.

Chile’s Maule Region is consolidating its position as a world-class agribusiness and export hub with the inauguration of Fruselva Global’s new plant—the largest in Latin America for baby food production and the first exporter of its kind.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Agriculture Ignacia Fernández; Presidential Delegate for the Maule Region Humberto Aqueveque; Regional Governor, Pedro Álvarez-Salamanca; Spanish Ambassador to Chile, Laura Oroz; and Acting Director of InvestChile, Juan Pablo Candia, along with other Chilean and Spanish authorities.

A milestone for regional development

With an initial investment of US$40 million, the plant currently generates 600 direct jobs and is projected to exceed 1,000 positions by 2030, significantly contributing to the Maule Region’s economic growth. It also stands out for its high percentage of women employees, reaffirming Fruselva’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Since its arrival in Chile, the company has invested more than US$70 million, and plans to add another US$60 million over the next four years.

«Projects like Fruselva confirm that in the Maule Region we are consolidating an agribusiness and export hub based on the pillars of foreign investment, women’s employment, technological innovation, and sustainability—the pillars of a Chile that looks to the future,» said Minister of Agriculture, Ignacia Fernández, during the ceremony.

«A sustainable, inclusive, and competitive agroindustry is essential to advance toward a more prosperous, equitable country—one that is committed to its people and its territory,» she added

Innovation, sustainability, and wellbeing

«We are very happy to continue investing in Chile, a country that has been key to our international growth. The Maule Region offers a unique agricultural and human ecosystem that we want to keep strengthening through innovation, employment, and sustainable development. This plant reflects our confidence in the region and its people,» said Xavier Martínez i Serra, Chairman and Founder of Fruselva Global.

Javi Hernández, CEO of Fruselva Global, highlighted that the company’s «greatest pride lies not only in the numbers, but in the quality of the people who make this project possible. At Fruselva, we believe in local talent and in our people’s ability to transform the industry from the Maule Region to the world.»

The new facility—covering 130,000 m², with 25,000 m² built and 23,000 m² dedicated to production and logistics—boasts total energy autonomy thanks to self-consumption generators and an on-site solar power plant. It also promotes employee wellbeing through a childcare center, nursing room, free cafeteria, medical insurance, and transportation, positioning itself as a benchmark for good labor practices.

Environmentally, its wastewater management system using MBR technology places the plant among the cleanest in the sector. The company also provides over 4,500 hours of training per year, enhancing its team’s talent and innovation.

An industrial model with a positive impact

Fruselva Global reaffirms its leadership as a certified B Corporation, combining profitability with a sustainable business model aligned with ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles. The company holds international certifications such as Clean Label, Plant Based, Gluten Free, Non-GMO, and Biodynamic (Demeter).

Its operations comply with the highest global standards for food safety and quality (BRCGS AA), social responsibility (SMETA/Sedex), and include kosher and halal certifications. Fruselva’s products are distributed to markets including the United States, Europe, Japan, Brazil, China, Canada, and Mexico, further strengthening Chile’s position as a reliable partner for sustainable manufacturing and the export of high-value food products.

Representing InvestChile, Regional Network Manager Gabriela Jorquera and Agri-Food Sector Lead Mauricio Camus attended the event, reinforcing institutional support for this flagship example of foreign investment in Chile’s regions.

An industry with purpose

With this new plant, Fruselva Global is not only boosting innovation and competitiveness in Chile’s agroindustry, but also promoting a responsible, inclusive, and sustainable development model, showcasing Chile’s quality and talent from the Maule Region to the world.
