The data center will be located in the Santiago Metropolitan Region and will start operation at the end of this year.
A year after installing its first data center in Chile, Chinese technology company Huawei has announced the construction of a second data center in the country. It will be located in the Santiago Metropolitan Region and will start operation at the end of the year.
The center will position Huawei Cloud as the only cloud offering artificial intelligence (AI) and big data services in Chile. This will permit faster analysis of the data of local clients through an AI cluster.
“We are very happy to be launching our second data center in the country. It will mean many benefits for our users; it will help to provide greater security in the event of catastrophes and will also allow Chile to prepare for the next technological challenges the future will bring,” said Jason Jin, president of Huawei Cloud & AI in Chile.
Huawei will be the only company in Chile with two data centers in line with its commitment to supporting technological development and promoting Chile as a digital hub in Latin America. In addition, the center will generate direct benefits for clients since it will offer greater data security and mean more capacity to provide services.
In August 2019, Huawei inaugurated the company’s first public cloud in Latin America in Chile and, according to the company, investing in the country was a good decision for the development of its business. “We are happy to be part of the country’s technological ecosystem. We decided at the time to invest in our first data center in Chile because we see the country as a pioneer in the adoption of technological transformation in companies and society. Without a doubt, Chile is a benchmark for other Latin American countries in terms of digitalization,” said Jin.
In its one year of operation, Huawei Cloud has developed a diverse portfolio of clients and positioned itself in the retail, finance, health and education sectors as well as other more traditional sectors.
