The Spanish company has completed a total of 12 projects on the Santiago Metro and has exceeded €700 million in accumulated investment in projects developed on the network.
The Spanish infrastructure company OHLA has been selected to carry out the civil works on sub-sections 1C and 1D of the future Santiago Metro Line 9, which include the shafts, galleries and tunnels. Valued at €144.3 million, the award constitutes the largest contract obtained by the company in the metro’s history, reinforcing its position as one of the main players in the development of Chile’s underground railway infrastructure.
The project involves the construction of 7.6 kilometers of underground infrastructure, which is part of Section 1 of the future Line 9, one of the most important urban mobility initiatives currently under development in Chile. As part of the project, OHLA will execute two of the main subsections.
The new project adds to the contract worth more than €70 million that the company obtained last June for the construction of six new stations on Line 7. With it, OHLA has secured a total of 12 projects on the Santiago Metro and has exceeded €700 million in accumulated investment in projects developed on the network.
OHLA’s participation in the Santiago Metro came about through projects developed on lines 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, including the construction of emblematic stations such as Plaza Egaña, Dorsal, Gruta Lourdes, Blanqueado and Lo Prado, as well as numerous sections of tunnels, galleries and shafts associated with the metro’s expansion in the Chilean capital.
OHLA has been present in Chile since 1981, and has participated since then in some of the most important infrastructure projects in the country. Currently, in addition to the aforementioned project, the company is constructing the Lo Ruiz Tunnel, one of the most significant road projects currently underway in Santiago.
