PriceSmart announces the two municipalities chosen for its launch in Chile

More than ten brands linked to the U.S. chain were registered in 2025, including pharmacy services.

The membership-based U.S. supermarket chain PriceSmart continues to fine-tune the details of its launch in Chile.

What began as press reports of a feasibility study of the chain’s entry into the Chilean market ended up a reality, with the registration of trademarks and the incorporation of the firm that will operate PriceSmart stores in the country.

And now, the locations of the brand’s first two stores have been announced.

Although no opening dates have been set, the first two locales will be in Las Condes—likely in Mallplaza Los Dominicos—and in Peñalolén, the latter as a stand-alone store not attached to a shopping center.

At a conference held in the United States in early January 2026 to report on the brand’s results, PriceSmart CEO David Prince announced that the locations for its first locales in Chile had been defined and the agreements signed, although he did not provide more details at the time.

While PriceSmart had considered municipalities such as Colina, it ultimately opted for the two districts mentioned above, not ruling out future expansion in the Metropolitan Region or outlying regions.

More than ten brands linked to PriceSmart were registered in Chile in 2025, including services associated with pharmacy services. In August, PriceSmart SpA was incorporated as a joint stock company and some team members were announced.

Unlike traditional supermarkets such as Tottus, Unimarc, Líder and Santa Isabel, the company operates in the same way as its U.S. rival, Cotsco, through the sale of various annual memberships ranging in price from US$40 to US$80—according to the abovementioned report—that give members access to its stores.

Memberships can be individual or include multiple cardholders, depending on the price, and allow members to purchase typical supermarket products and access PriceSmart’s own pharmacy services and eye exams.
