Following the irruption of generative artificial intelligence and the rise of data analysis, the IT industry has seen a significant increase in the demand for workers, technicians and professionals in the sector. According to estimates by the Chilean Association of Information Technology Companies (Asociación Chilena de Empresas de Tecnología de la Información, ACTI), the personnel deficit reached 10 thousand workers in 2023, far exceeding the 6 thousand that had been projected annually since 2015.

With this challenge in mind, SoftServe Chile—a leading multinational company in technology and consulting services—announced the launch of its “Talent Acceleration Program” in Ñuble to train young talents from the region in advanced technical skills and practical experience in real technological projects.

“In times of economic uncertainty, our commitment is clear: generate opportunities and train the next generation of IT professionals. With the launch of this program in Ñuble, we aim to not only close the talent gap in the industry, but also to provide young people in the region with a solid platform to develop their skills and contribute to the growth of a sector that is fundamental to the future of Chile,” said Jaime Oviedo, Country Manager of SoftServe Chile.

The Acting Director of InvestChile, Juan Pablo Candia, commented that “this type of initiative confirms the importance of the role that foreign companies can play in our country, not only through the development of their operations in Chile, but also by making a concrete economic contribution in our regions. SoftServe’s program is an excellent example, because it provides specific opportunities to export the talent of our young people to the world and project this into the future,” he said.

“SoftServe, a company recognized globally for its innovation and excellence in technology, has chosen our region to implement this program, reaffirming its commitment to the formation of talent and the development of skills in the youth of Ñuble. This free scholarship will not only allow our students to improve their skills in a language that is critical in the modern working world, but will also open doors to future professional opportunities,” said the Seremi of Economy, Erick Solo de Zaldívar.

Contribution to employability

With 150 spots available, the program is aimed at recent graduates and students in their final year of degrees related to information technology or programming with English proficiency, who, between August and November, will work with a mentor who will support them to improve their skills in some of the most sought-after fields in the market.

“This program offers a unique opportunity for recent college graduates and seniors to be trained in technologies that are in demand by the industry. We will work with participants to take their skills to the next level through real projects, which could be the start of a brilliant career for the region’s top talent,” said Alejandro Zeballos, Country Learning & Talent Development at SoftServe Chile.

At the end of the first stage of the program in November, top students will be offered a paid internship at SoftServe starting in March 2025.
