The Argentine e-commerce and financial services firm expects to hire 14,000 people throughout Latin America, this will result in 46% growth in its total number of employees in 2022, reaching 44,000 this year. 

The company forecasts some US$180 million in annual synergies through combining its VTR landline operations with the Claro mobile operations in Chile.

The company has chosen Santiago as the site for one of its 30 new Local Zones worldwide, which will be up and running between this year and next. The facility will encompass computing, warehousing and database services.

Runway developed software to automate video editing and generate new content based on algorithms by writing a simple sentence. It has just raised US$35 million with Coatue - which has worked with Tesla, Spotify and Snap -  as the main investor.

Chile, which has 21 chapters dedicated to the service sector in its current trade agreements with 56 economies, has now launched the first “Manual for Service Exports and Free Trade Agreement Opportunities.” 

These are free, online programs for people who are unemployed or self-employed.  The courses are intensive, last from 2 to 4 months and help people to switch over from any trade or profession to IT programming and design.

Chile will be the first Latin American country to benefit from Starlink’s satellite internet services. The project consists of a constellation of satellites designed to provide low-latency high-speed broadband connectivity to parts of the world that were previously unreachable by this type of technology.

Chilean company StatKnows is the creator of Recyclame (Recycle Me), a platform that uses artificial intelligence and blockchain technology to cross check bar code information from plastic bottles so that the passage of bottles through the entire value chain can be managed.

Prominent multinational companies such as Microsoft, Google, Huawei, AWS and Oracle have placed their trust in Chile by installing technological infrastructure in the country.

The Chilean government has signed a contract with the Israeli company ImageSat International to manufacture eight of these devices in the Cerrillos National Space Center that is to be built in Santiago, Chile.

The project, which will be developed by Claro Chile and Telxius and supplied by Subcom, will interconnect the Pacific coast of Latin America, with landing points in Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Guatemala.
