Walmart invests US$200 million to expand its logistics center in Pudahuel

Walmart Chile’s investment aims to double the size of its logistics center in Pudahuel and add over 2,300 robots, enabling faster deliveries to remote areas and lower prices nationwide.

With President José Antonio Kast and several of his ministers present, Walmart Chile launched one of its most ambitious logistics projects in Chile: the expansion of its distribution center in Pudahuel. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of an investment to overhaul the company’s operations and meet new retail demands.

The initiative involves a US$200 million investment and will double the facility’s floor space, from 65,000 to 130,000 square meters. The project features state-of-the-art technology and approximately 2,300 robots—four different models with specific functions. Unmatched in South American retail, the facility will be one of the most advanced in Walmart’s global network.

“This investment demonstrates our confidence in Chile and its people. We are building a more modern, efficient and future-ready operation, where technology and people work together to enhance our customers’ experience and improve our teams’ quality of life,” says Matías De Lorenzo, VP of Omni Supply Chain at Walmart Chile.

The project marks a turning point in how the company serves millions of people. The expansion will improve its ability to offer low prices, speed up delivery times and expand coverage nationwide.

The expansion of the distribution center in Pudahuel will strengthen the supply network supporting both brick-and-mortar stores and the digital channel, increasing order-fulfillment capacity and improving product availability.

Faster deliveries, wider coverage—especially outside Santiago—and a more efficient operation will result in more competitive prices for families across Chile, from Arica to Punta Arenas, including remote places like Juan Fernández, Putre, and the world’s southernmost settlement, Puerto Toro. Importantly, through its digital platform, Walmart Chile now serves more than 200 remote locations throughout the country.
