Chile is consolidating its position as a key digital infrastructure hub in Latin America, hosting 15% of the region's entire data center capacity and reaching 166 MW in operation, making the country the third largest market, according to a JLL report published by Canal 24 Horas.
Growth in the sector accelerated during 2025, with 18 MW of new capacity added, driven by projects from global operators such as Ascenty and Equinix, reflecting the interest international companies have in expanding their presence in the country.
Regionally, the data center market reached 1,105 MW, with 20% annual growth and a record 184 MW in new deliveries, consolidating Latin America as a strategic destination for digital infrastructure.
Hyperscale leadership
One of the main factors behind Chile's position in this market is its development of hyperscale infrastructure. Santiago concentrates 46% of this segment’s overall capacity in the region, with 93 MW, consolidating its position as the leading hub for large cloud providers.
«Santiago has become the most important regional hub for hyperscale facilities and continues to attract interest from global suppliers who are considering expanding their operations,» explains Javiera Basso, Director of Research at JLL Chile.
Competitive advantages
Chile's attractiveness is due to a combination of structural factors, including international connectivity, abundant renewable energy and regulatory stability, all of which have encouraged foreign investment in the sector.
«Chile has key advantages that have allowed it to become a digital hub in the region, especially given the growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and 5G networks,» comments Felipe Larroulet, Industrial Director of JLL Chile.
Expansion underway
The market maintains growth prospects, with projects under development that will significantly expand installed capacity in the coming years.
One of these is Scala Data Centers, which has chosen Chile for 25% of the 220 MW it has under construction, reinforcing the country's position in the region.
Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia are the main digital infrastructure hubs in the region today, together accounting for more than 90% of the Latin American market in this sector.
