The initiative developed by Fundación Encuentros del Futuro and Tianqi Lithium’s «We Share» fund will provide training to postgraduate students at Chinese companies and universities for one month, contributing to the development of Chile’s lithium industry.
Living in China for a month, learning about the latest sustainable lithium extraction technology, visiting one of the world’s leading panda sanctuaries, and enjoying authentic Chinese food.
These are just some of the benefits provided by New Energy Talents, an exchange program developed by Fundación Encuentros del Futuro and Tianqi Lithium’s «We Share» fund.
The initiative aims to provide training to postgraduate students and researchers at Chinese companies and universities for one month, in order to contribute to the development of Chile’s lithium industry.
The exchange will be carried out in Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan Province in southwestern China. The region has developed a comprehensive lithium value chain, and is a global leader in the production of raw materials for lithium batteries that are used in electromobility.
The 30-day exchange—which will be held between October and November 2023—marks the 53rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Chile and China, and includes return tickets, accommodation, living expenses in China, internships, and courses and workshops related to the lithium industry at universities and companies in the region.
The application form for the exchange can be found at https://net.fef.cl. Applicants must also provide their CV, academic record, and a supporting letter. Eligible participants must be between 25 and 35 years of age, a postgraduate student, and a resident of Chile.
The selection process will be carried out by an assessment committee made up of experts who teach at various Chilean universities, Government advisors, and members of Fundación Encuentros del Futuro. A total of 20 applicants will be selected, 10 women and 10 men, and incentives will be provided for more women to participate in this initiative.
The group of students chosen for the month-long exchange in Chengdu, China will be announced on Wednesday, September 22.
The New Energy Talents program was developed by Fundación Encuentros del Futuro, a non-profit institution which is responsible for organizing Latin America’s largest knowledge-sharing event, Congreso Futuro, and Tianqi Lithium, a global new energy materials company focused on lithium with a presence in Australia, Chile, and China.
