The Japanese holding company is one of the world’s leading fishing and seafood groups, and has operated in Chile since 1988 through Salmones Antártica.

Japanese conglomerate Nissui has reached an agreement to acquire Pesquera Yadrán S.A., a salmon farming company owned by the Briones family.
The Asian firm will pay US$321 million for the transaction, according to Chilean online publication Emol.
Nissui Corporation is one of the world’s leading fishing and seafood groups, with more than 110 years of history and operations across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. The company has been present in Chile since 1988 through Salmones Antártica S.A.
A pioneering company launched in Chiloé
Yadrán has evolved from a small shellfish freezing business in Quellón, Chiloé into a major salmon farming company, establishing itself as a pioneer in the industry and a source of pride for those who have been part of its history, the company said in a statement.
After consolidating its position, shareholders concluded that the time was right for a transition in ownership.
As the aquaculture industry has shifted toward more integrated operating models, Nissui emerged as the group best positioned to provide the scale and capabilities needed to take the company’s operations into their next phase.
As a result of this transaction, the Nissui Group will expand its operating capacity in Chile, diversify its production base, and reinforce its position as one of the key players in the regional aquaculture sector.
