With an investment of US$114 million, the new SCL03 data center adds to an expanding ecosystem. The company, backed by Digital Realty and Brookfield Infrastructure, is already preparing two new projects that will quintuple its capacity in the country.

This funding will be used for the construction of three hyperscale data centers and an electrical substation in Chile. 

Verizon is the largest telecommunications firm in the United States.

Backed by SIMEST and supported by InvestChile, the Italian company has connected its first two solar power plants in Chile, and plans to expand its presence with a portfolio of 15 projects, incorporating new technologies to strengthen the country’s energy transition.

The new infrastructure investment is specifically intended for the construction of three data centers, which will be located in the province of Santiago.

Technology companies, universities, and AI transfer centers will be able to access up to US$7 million in funding. 

Seven new data centers are advancing through the Environmental Assessment System, with projects at various stages of analysis.

For the second straight year, the report found that Chile continues to lead in the adoption and development of AI, excelling in infrastructure, specialized talent and research.

At the end of the first half of the year, the surface area occupied by this type of facilities had doubled compared to the same time last year, reaching its highest point since records began. Installed capacity also recorded a significant increase. 

Two years ago, the South American group opened a hub in Santiago where 100 Chilean and Brazilian employees develop software for export to countries including China. The firm is now focusing on Artificial Intelligence to serve the Andean and Southern Cone markets «from Chile to the world.» 

The AWS Head of Solutions Architecture - South of Latin America  remarked on the company’s sustained investments in Chile over the last ten years, the integration of artificial intelligence models at Chilean companies, and how they address sustainability while developing their technology.

The multinational company’s initiative, focused on boosting employability in the technology sector, has 150 spots available for recent graduates and students in their final year of technology-related degrees.

The scholarships will be awarded in partnership with Talento Digital and will provide access to a new Artificial Intelligence course and Google Career Certificates.

The IFI Audiovisual offers an attractive incentive for foreign productions, reimbursing up to 30% of qualified expenses incurred within the country, and 40% for those productions that are made entirely in regions outside the Metropolitan region.

The Humboldt project, born from the collaboration between the Chilean Government and the multinational Google, will span more than 14,000 kilometers and will enable the deployment of an underwater optical fiber.

This will be in Valparaíso and required an investment of over US$ 100 million.
