To deepen its digital transformation and advance the strategic use of emerging technologies, Codelco and Microsoft signed an agreement establishing a collaboration framework to evaluate joint initiatives in artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, automation, digital security and other areas.

The agreement, signed by Codelco CEO Rubén Alvarado and the President of Microsoft Latin America, Tito Arciniega, is based on the longstanding working relationship between the two companies, which spans over 27 years and includes projects across multiple areas. This new phase aims to incorporate cutting-edge tools while maintaining high standards of cybersecurity and data protection.

“Working with a world-class technology partner like Microsoft solidifies our leadership in mining for the future. Faced with an accelerated digital transformation, our operations need to process and analyze large volumes of data. That is the goal of this partnership: to enhance our asset management through innovative solutions and maximize the value we provide to the State of Chile,” said Codelco CEO Rubén Alvarado.

“This alliance with Codelco reflects the potential of artificial intelligence to propel the development of the mining sector and the Chilean market in general, enabling safer, more efficient and sustainable operations focused on people, productivity and long-term value for the business and the country,” said Tito Arciniega, President of Microsoft Latin America.

Among the focus areas being considered are the extensive use of data, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve decision-making; developing more autonomous and secure operations; automating critical processes; strengthening cybersecurity; and promoting technological training programs for workers and teams. The agreement also includes the possibility of developing pilot projects, participating in early testing of new solutions, sharing international experiences and fostering connections within the innovation ecosystem.
