The Mexican company is considering adding a second production line aimed at increasing manufacturing capacity and strengthening distribution.

A US$ 25 million investment will expand the Ideal plant in Chillán Viejo and increase its employment capacity by 40%, in one of the most important industrial projects recently announced for Ñuble. Ideal is a subsidiary of the Mexican company Bimbo.

The progress of the works was presented during a visit led by the regional presidential delegate, Diego Sepúlveda, together with the regional secretary for Labor and Social Security, Edmundo Novoa, who toured the facilities where a new production line is currently being built.

The expansion includes incorporating a second production line aimed at increasing manufacturing capacity and strengthening distribution to different municipalities in Ñuble and southern Chile.

According to the company, the project at the Chillán Viejo plant will also allow them to diversify production and respond to increased demand.

More than a thousand workers have already participated in the construction phase, a figure that was highlighted by regional authorities due to the job impact associated with the investment.

The presidential delegate stated that the growth of the plant represents an important signal for the regional economy and for the generation of new jobs in Ñuble.

The regional secretary for Labor and Social Security indicated that the expansion could translate into new direct and indirect job opportunities for families in Chillán Viejo and nearby municipalities, especially in areas related to production, logistics and associated services.

Meanwhile, Ideal explained that the goal of this new phase is to increase production capacity and expand the variety of food products made at the plant.

Carlos Pérez, Engineering and Maintenance Manager at Ideal Chile, indicated that the company is seeking to strengthen its regional operations by incorporating new lines of production and increasing its distribution capacity towards southern Chile.

The company’s operation in Chillán Viejo also appears to be linked to the development of the regional production chain related to wheat, flour and breadmaking, historically-important sectors in Ñuble.

The expansion comes at a time when various industries have begun to reactivate investments in the region, especially in the agro-industrial and food sectors.

Works are currently still underway and the company is making progress in installing the new production infrastructure that will allow it to expand its operations during the coming months.
