Technology corporation Huawei announced a new edition of its prestigious competition, which aims to attract young talent.
Chinese technology giant Huawei has launched a new edition of its prestigious ICT Competition 2022-2023, which aims to attract young talent in information and communications technology (ICT). The winners of the ICT Competition Chile will participate in the Latin American phase of the contest, where if successful they will have the opportunity to advance to the global version.
According to the World Bank, in the coming decade there will be a talent gap of 10 million people in information and communications technology (ICT), with 70% of this gap in fields such as cloud, big data, IoT, and AI. For that reason, Huawei decided to launch this international competition, for which enrollment is open until October 20.
Carrying out this type of activity in Chile is very important, because we understand that it is a tangible way to enable students to gain experience, transferable skills, and foundations for their professional lives that will help them to develop in the future”, said Marcelo Pino, Vice-President of Corporate Affairs at Huawei Latin America and the Caribbean.
The ICT Competition, which will be held in more than 85 countries, brings together over 150,000 higher education students, and is focused on two specific areas of ICT: Network Track and Cloud Track, which assess students’ technical knowledge and ability to develop solutions based on real-life scenarios.
The requirements to apply for the competition include having an intermediate or advanced level of English, and being enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate student at one of the following institutions that form part of the Huawei ICT Academy: Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Universidad de Concepción, Universidad Austral, Universidad Diego Portales, Universidad de Antofagasta, Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Duoc UC, and INACAP.
