Germany’s K+S, the controller of Sal Lobos, will invest US$5 million in Chile to install an American Business Center (ABC) from which it will control some of the group’s operations in the region.

Quality new jobs in Chile
The company will be seeking to hire 40 professionals, with proficiency in English and French, for the center in the third quarter of this year.
According to Jens-Peter Kählert, vice-president of finance & administration at K+S Chile, the company evaluated different locations around the world for the center, including the United States, Canada and Costa Rica as well as Chile.
The executive also indicated that the company is evaluating the transfer of other functions, in addition to finance and accounting, which would imply a significant growth of the ABC’s personnel in the coming years.
Chemical Company
K+S AG is a German chemical company and Europe’s largest supplier of potash for use in fertilizer. K+S Chile exploits one of largest open-pit sodium chloride deposits in the world, located in the Tarapaca salt flat. This deposit presents unique features, such as its proximity to the port, high purity, low bromine and heavy metals content, absence of organic content, and stable and controllable chemical quality.
K+S Chile has 2 port facilities in Caleta Patillos, which take bulk carriers of up to 100,000 tons, with a loading rate of 25,000 tons per day, each.
