Chile will be the first Latin American country to benefit from Starlink’s satellite internet services. The project consists of a constellation of satellites designed to provide low-latency high-speed broadband connectivity to parts of the world that were previously unreachable by this type of technology.

According to statistics through to December 2019, there were 16.5 million 4G connections in Chile; ahead of the advent of 5G, this indicates that Chileans adapt quickly to changes in technology.

Analysis of official figure shows that mobile traffic grew by 105% in a year as compared to 40% for fixed lines.
